Using layered timeframes to visualise the overcrowding of urban cities
DESCRIPTION: Hinged Cities is a project that explores gradual density of modern urban cities, in particular that of Paris. The installation is constructed of layers of laser cut maps that are from different centuries. A light is shone through them, projecting the images onto the wall. When layered directly on top of one another, the current density is revealed but when rotated on their pins, variations in density and space can be explored, giving the user the power of an urban developer.
